CitarWritten by veteran game designers Alessio Cavatore and Rick Priestley, "Bolt Action" provides all the rules needed to bring the great battles of World War II to your tabletop. Using miniature soldiers, tanks and terrain, you can fight battles in the shattered towns of occupied France, the barren deserts of North Africa, and even the sweltering jungles of the Pacific. Players get to decide which of the major or minor World War II powers they would like to represent, and then construct their armies from the lists provided. Army options are almost limitless, allowing you to build the kind of army that most appeals to your style of play, from heavily armored tank forces to lightly armed, but highly skilled. The choice is yours. Created as a joint project between Warlord Games, the premiere historical miniatures company, and Osprey Publishing, the leading independent military history publisher, "Bolt Action" is sure to be the most popular new wargame on the market.

CitarProduction on the rulebook and first supplement is moving ahead well. The second supplement is written and on it's way to Osprey Towers.

amazon Announces the rulebook and two Supplements - a Book for the germans and a Book for the americans. Sergeant Ryan, you know

- upper limit 40-50 minis (squad-platoon bases)
- around 6 vehicles tops
- "you're in the action" - this is what the 28mm brings to the table
- mentions Osprey as the partner
- vehicles: "rules cover everything ... soft skins ... armoured cars ... light tanks ... medium tanks ... heavy tanks ... uber tanks ..."
- anti-tank guns and howitzers - no planes (out of scale)
- like many, Alessio started with Airfix and has come full circle to WWII
- problems with historical rules - reality and the pedantic types - armour penetration etc. vs. 40k - no limits (lascannon?)
- hard data and facts vs. "history is not as precise"
- Romeo (presenter) talks about wanting to review the minis and the "starter box" - questions how it will be released? Goes to "Germans vs. Americans" (he is ... American ... )
- books published by Osprey, not by Warlord (interesting, that...)
- models of course are ALREADY OUT!
- "There will be a starter set" - content not determined (please, don't let it be Team America vs Team Germany!)
- 40 models 1-5 squads, support, flamethrower - and different - typical Russian Horde vs. small Fallschirmjager Elite force.
- Romeo goes to "Saving Private Ryan".
- Alessio wanted that level of "detail" "exciting" - Saving Private Ryan, Pacific, Band of Brothers - this is a modern take on gaming from movies, perhaps?
- Alessio was not "up to speed" on historical gaming - those around him helped that
- brought "naive feeling of 'I want to play Saving Private Ryan'" (!)
- he's "not really serious" and freely admits to making mistakes
- How a Game Turn Works:
- 5 Inf Squads, etc -10 units vs 7 German
- Order Dice (not understandable what follows)
- all the dice in a pot.
- Turn 1 - draw a dice. (sic)
- Saga Type Dice are mentioned (my inference)- with Orders on them
- American Dice has an order - "Fire"
- Units will do what they have been told unless Pinned for example, then test, go to ground, etc
- resolve action - fire AT gun at Tank
- Random picking from dice pot for both sides
- Turn ends - NOT IGOUGO really - actions are fluid
- orders "break sequence" - ambush and then shoot etc.
- "very different way"
- creates "a lot of tension"
- so many things to choose from and priority must be identified.
- Delayed actions like Ambush are possible
- Release: "Next Year" - this is possibly 2012 (Sir Rick in the background wouldn't allow him to say more!)

Escala DH: Platoons + apoyos.

Prich

:1st
