I am ordering the rule set to play modern conflitcs called Cold War Commander. I am wondering is there any guy form Barca interested to try this system?

crancko

I recommend you to order directly from GHQ. They are the best 1/300 moderns by far from other manufacturers such as Navwar or H&R. But always depend on how much you want to spend. I don't know any local distributor in Barcelona for GHQ.

Where are you from? We are trying to start with the system with another guy here in the forum.

Cesar29

Yes you are right the GHQ models are the best in this scale.Hmm the problem is that GHQ is from USA (ship cost are HUUGE), but i still have an option to order minis in my country (Poland). I am from pueblo near Zaragoza, but it is not a problem to play with you guys in other place in Spain like Barcelona or other. What conflict are you inerested of? Vietnam? Iraq or aome others?

Inad

I am about to order my first two battlegroups for CWC early next week. They will be a modern Iranian armored brigade and a modern Saudi mechanised brigade. Minis will be mostly Navwar to keep the cost as low as possible.

Crancko (Andrés) has modern Iraqi and USA battlegroups so, at least in the begining, we will be playing modern middle east. I like the "what if?" scenarios like USA invading Iran or a Shia vs Sunni war in the Gulf so I guess we will be doing mostly that.

If you want to join us someday you'll be wellcomed...  :D

Thanks, buthmm about those minis yoy are about to buy..I have heard that Nevwar minis are not too good... I will order an Israelian battle group from GHQ in 2 moths so if anybody wants to order minis in 1/285 can order them with me in GHQ store:)

I speak a little spanish but i cannot write in this leanguage so that`s why i am using english on forums. This polish shop is one i checked, they have all but the shipment to Spain is a little bit  expensive. Thanks for this other link!

Well I know GHQ are much better but they are also from four to five times more expensive and you need to order them in packs of five which is not nice either. I've been searching the web for mini comparison in 6mm and most people tend to agree on GHQ being much better when you look at them from 10cm away but once they are on the table top the difference is not so evident.

I own some WWII Navwar minis and they look ok to me so I'll give them a try this time... Maybe you Israelis might attempt to stop my Iranian expasion through the middle east one day... ;)

Another option for GHQ is to go the Yahoo forum GHQSwapShop. In this forum you can find many people trading/selling lots of GHQ and CinC miniatures. Currently I received several lists for Britains and Russians.

I have 60% GHQ and 40% Navwar. And there is a big step in quality between both but as Inad mentioned once in the table the quality is not so important. For gaming both are excellent. I have some pictures I sent to Inad in order to see both levels of details. If you want I can send them to you as well.

What is really different are the soldiers. I recommend you strongly to go for GHQ. No doubt for this. For Armored vehicles you can have a mix for example Tanks from GHQ and APC from Navwar. Is what I have. ;)

My armies are Iraq Force and US force for Gulf Wars.

Contact me at crusher1002000@yahoo.com and I will send you the pictures if you want.

Cold War Commander:
Cesar do you play at one element equals one platoon/troop? or one squad/vehicle? I prefer the first one as it allows you to field almost complete brigades... what are you planning your Israelis for?

Which scale are you poeple in Bilbao using?

GEHIEGI

Platoon. I would prefer the smaller scale but the people are playing by the book. Initially I planned to try MBT, a 90s board wargame by Avalon Hill, but CWC is really more affordable.

I don`t now yet. As a matter of fact i think it is better to play bigger scale game (brigades then batalions for example). It allows players to play historical battles without reducing the battle to batalion scale it is more interesting and competitive
too:).
